St. Hyacinth recently started "The Little Blessing House." This program essentially helps feed the homeless along with providing them some clothing during these summer months. This is a program strictly run through the support of the parishioners and the donations they bring in. Thus, they try to operate this program once a month. The program is open for any individual to come and pick up items that they have available. They display all the items out on tables and set up tents so that it is noticeable that they are giving away items for those less fortunate. So, you will be helping with setting out tables and bringing items out to those tables. Thereafter, you will be helping those individuals that stop by, with selecting items and really just interacting with them. Many of the individuals that stop by to select items are poverty stricken. These interactions that you have with the individuals are the best part of the service event.
